Brian McLaren a pastor, author, speaker, and networker among innovative Christian leaders, thinkers, and activists. (My favorite of the many voices within the emerging church.) 3. Emergent a growing generative friendship among missional Christian leaders seeking to love our world in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. (Not to be confused with the broader, more elusive emerging church.) Standout Articles on Postmodernity... 1. John Paulien discusses the postmodern acts of God. 2. Brian McLaren describes the three different postmodernisms. 3. Bill McKibbin reveals how a Christian nation gets Jesus wrong. Theological Thinkers... 1. Alden Thompson is a professor at Walla Walla College and is probably not the most widely known theologian, but I think he should be. (In my opinion his books and articles should be required reading for every Adventist.) 2. Walter Brueggemann is professor of OT studies at Columbia Theological Seminary. (My favorite OT theologian.) 3. N.T. Wright is the Bishop of Durham. (My favorite NT theologian.) |
